sleeping under the stars

Dad and the boys planned a campout for Friday night, but it ended up happening on Saturday night. Cory had to go to Monticello on Friday. He left the house at 5:30 and got home around 7 that night. Needless to say he was a little tired!
Setting up for the campout. When Spencer saw the little tent that he and Parker would sleep in and saw that Daddy would be sleeping on his cot he said, "Mom, we need a bigger tent!" What would a campout be without a treat? We made Snickerdoodle Chex Mix....mmmm, so good! Getting snuggled in. Pepper joined in on the camping fun. This is Cory reading Lord of The Rings to the boys with his headlamp. What a great dad...he's always up for an adventure. After we set up the tent and got things situated we came in and the boys immediately ran in and got their pajamas on and were ready to go to bed. And they couldn't wait to get back out there.
Thanks, Dad, for another adventure!

spongebob. a measurable unit of time?

According to Parker one episode of Spongebob is a measurable unit of time. I guess if you are 5 years old this makes sense. One episode of Spongebob is roughly 10 minutes in length so we often have conversations that go something like this:

Me "We need to go to the store"
Parker "How long will we be gone?"
Me "Probably 30 minutes or so"
Parker "How many Spongebob's is that?"
Me "About 3"
Parker "Okay, sounds good"

school is cool

Parker had his first day of Kindergarten today. It was a big hit. Recess went over big! We were waiting in the hall for school to start and the principal started telling kids to go to class and before I knew it Parker was gone, he went right into his class and sat down. No goodbye or nothing he just ran in and didn't look back. I don't expect anything less from that boy!

It was kind of cute to see a lot of the parents of the Kindergarten kids "hanging around" outside the classroom door. A lot of them stood there not sure what to do like their kid would have a complete meltdown and not be able to handle the big school and they would be there to swoop in and rescue them from this HUGE step in life. Well that didn't happen, it proved to be just another day!

I'm excited for Parker to go to school he just went today and then he will go on Thursday for assessments then officially start next Monday. He will ride the bus to school....I'm nervous about that! I'm totally going to pull a Jamie and follow the bus to school and watch him get off and make sure he makes it into the school.

Parker got decked out in his Tony Hawk gear. And for those of you who don't know who Tony Hawk is....how dare you? Just kidding he one of the best skateboarders of all time. And for boys ages 5 to 15 he is the ultimate cool. Parker owns a skateboard, but doesn't necessarily use correctly. He likes to lay or sit on it and ride it down the driveway. But who care Tony Hawk rules!

life's a day at the beach

Sometimes the weather is too nice to stay home......so we came here: Pineview Reservoir.

Building.....
Okay, for those of you who follow this blog you already know that 1) I love to blog and 2) I put a lot of pics on here. So read at your own risk:-) It looks like Daddy is shooting the bad guys.
digging.... Hitching a ride....the water was a little cold, but it felt great.Miss M and I kicked it in the shade.
This pic is actually symbolic of my children's personalities. Parker is the kind of kid that just goes for it whatever it might be. He jumps in head first (sometimes literally) to things in life. Spencer is a bit more cautious (and cleaner). We love the things that make each of them unique!

frontrunner, trax, museum...oh my!

I am officially a rock star: 3 kids + public transportation = an exciting day. Spencer is holding his dragon and covering his ears as the train came by, it got a little loud. Thank you Allison for carrying Mataya onto the train! We've gone on Frontrunner a few times, but this was the Ryan kid's first time.....and it was exciting! Cute girls! Grandma and Heather. We are glad that g.g. joined us for our crazy day! Love this girl! Getting on Trax with a big stroller: that was a unique experience! Good thing we had 4 adults to help with 2 strollers to lift them on and off. We stopped off at the Gateway by the water fountain to have lunch. We were jammin' out when they did the water show with the music. Watching...... Playing...... Crying.......okay so this is a random boy that was running around and he totally got sprayed right in the face and ran away crying and I thought he was the cutest kid. On a side note his older brother pulled his pants down and peed right there amongst the water and innocent bystanders when we first got there. One word comes to mind when you witness something like that: classy. My little Spencer. He only wanted to eat chips and animal cookies for lunch. I mean I can't blame him animal cookies are delicious. My cute boys! No one had a meltdown all day, including mom. For that we are grateful. After lunch it was off to the Church History Museum. Such a cool place. This is an original sketch of the Salt Lake Temple. How the pioneers ever built it is beyond me! Angel Moroni! We watched a little bit of a video and at the first the narrator asked if we would think of a place that makes us really happy. Parker ran over to me and whispered in my ear, "I'm imagining that I'm walking with Jesus." Yea, this probably isn't allowed, but Spencer had to have his moment with "Aslan". These girls are riding in style. We made it to the kid area and as we were walking in Spencer said, "This is the best day ever!" Then he ran over to the baby dolls and grabbed this little guy and was walking around with it saying, "my baby is poopy, he needs to be changed." We built temples....... Dressed up......... This was by the nativity scene. Spencer is holding some gold the wise men brought baby Jesus. Spencer was calling it a trophy. Operation: Frontrunner........a success!

monday

Why can't every day be like today? We had lunch at McDonald's, went shopping, played at the park, rode bikes, played duck, duck goose, laughed, and played a whole lot of ring around the rosies.
Sometimes I wish time could just freeze and this be my life from here on out, because lets be honest it's pretty great!

ad-benture

We went on a little family adventure last weekend. Or as Spencer would say "ad-benture". We went for a little drive through Morgan and up to this little lake. We just got out and walked around and explored. We threw rocks in the water.
We threw rocks in the water while eating suckers.
We sat back and watched Dad throw rocks the farthest....whoa!
We (okay They) hiked around to see more exciting things. Mataya was asleep so I couldn't go too far away.
Spencer found a "dinosaur" bone. We told him maybe it was the jaw bone of a dinosaur so in this picture he is holding it up to his jaw. Either that or he is kissing it you never know. The whole way home he was educating us on what kind of dinosaur bone it was. He said it was the bone from an Iguanadon. Dad, thanks for the fun ad-benture! There's nothing cooler than being a boy.
