PARKER turns.....5!!!

Happy Birthday Parker!

I asked Parker if he wanted to go and buy a cake for his birthday and he said, "No, Mom, I want you to make me something....maybe cookies." So we came up with these homemade oreos and it turned out pretty good. The day of his birthday we just had a fun, family day and the boys will have a combined party at the end of the month.
So I put up a Crete paper barrier when Parker when to bed the night before his birthday. I usually hang them down vertically, but Cory suggested I do it this way so he could break through when he woke up. It went over big, he told me he went through it like he was busting some one's door down.

He got to bring a treat to share at school on his birthday. We found a dinosaur cupcake pan and we had to get it, this is him decorating them the morning of, he was very generous with the sprinkles:)

February 12th....a good day to be born on. What's cooler than sharing your birthday with President Lincoln?

He chose to go to The Tree house Museum in Ogden. It is such a fun place and they loved this big map on the floor.....and he does love Mount Rushmore as you can see.

We had a hard time getting Spencer to look at anything else once he found the dino corner. I love how he gets his face right down there in the action when he plays with dinosaurs.

It's fun to learn about different cultures and what goes on in other countries. You could really spend all day here it's so fun. It's very interactive, we made all kinds of things. Another thing I like about it is that it's very clean and no adult can be admitted without a child which is comforting that they don't just let random adults pay the admission price and come on in. It is in downtown Ogden after all, which may have a reputation of an 'ick' factor.

After the museum we headed out to dinner at the place of Parker's choice which was Olive Garden. We thought the wait wouldn't be too long since it was a Thursday, but we were wrong....45 minutes! So I decide to take the boys on a walk over to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to kill some time. I didn't realize what a fun place this could be to take kids, they loved the kitchen gadget section. And as you can see from the picture above they loved the massager chairs.

We came home and he tore into his presents. We made him wait all day to open them, but we didn't want Cory to miss any of the action. Spencer would pick up a present during the day and Parker would say, "It's okay if you open it Spencer, I don't care." Oh sure, get little brother to do the dirty work! I did have to put some of them away because he kept shaking them and figured out what a couple of them were.

Another good thing about birthdays.....getting wads of cash in the mail from grandma and grandpa!

Valentine's Day....

So I forgot to write about what my wonderful, romantic husband did for me for Valentine's day...well, it was more like 12 days of romance. It all started on February 2nd, I got a little delivery at my door and it continued up until the big day of love. I was particularly fond of days 3, 4, and 5. Three chocolate covered strawberries, four chocolate brownies, 5 delicious chocolates....he scored some big points with this prego. I called him to ask if they were all food and chocolate related.....sadly they were not:) I did get romantic poems, flowers, balloons, a c.d. of love songs. There was even a Barry White song on there, so it was funny and romantic. It was really fun to get something new everyday, it took some planning and effort and it made me feel very loved and special. I have an awesome husband with just the right amount love and laughter.

25 Random Things About Me

I've been tagged a few times with this one and so here it is:

1 - I love the Food Network Channel.
2 - I really love to workout. I love to sweat and feeling those sore muscles the next day remind me how hard I worked.
3 - When I was a kid I wanted to be the Little Mermaid. Who wouldn't want to swim around the ocean looking beautiful with a nice singing voice?
4 - I love being a mom. It's the most difficult and rewarding job ever!
5 - I secretly wish I could do and Iron man triathlon someday.
6 - I have a mini panic attack on a daily basis at the thought of 3 kids. Cory likes to say, "Well, there's no turning back now."....thanks babe!
7 - I'm a little claustrophobic. I have been ever since I was a kid.
8 - In college I was a waitress at a Chinese restaurant. I loved it because I got to eat good, free Chinese food almost everyday...yummy!
9 - When I was younger my dad would always ask me to help with things around the house that would normally be reserved as "boy jobs". That is if my brothers weren't around. I would mow the lawn, paint the house, or lift heavy things.
10 - I hated my kindergarten teacher. She was so mean to me and would write nasty things on my homework papers. My mom saved all of them for the whole year and showed them all to the principal. That was her last year teaching kindergarten. Oh and the teacher's birthday was on Halloween....coincidence, I think not!
11- My mom was my teacher in 1st and 2ND grade.
12- I got baptized in Lake Powell.
13 - I played the cello in high school. My mom, Melissa, and Emilee played the violin we were a musical quartet.
14 - I have a love of Mountain Dew....it's real and it's deep:)
15 - We started reading the Book of Mormon as a family in Jan '08. Our goal is to finish before the baby is born. I think we might actually make it.
16 - While dating Cory I got to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing a Braves baseball game with him while he was living in Atlanta, GA.
17 - I really enjoy sleeping.
18 - I had to have my appendix removed at the age of 16. It had ruptured and I ended up getting pneumonia and being in the hospital for 9 days.
19 - I went on my first date the day I got out of the hospital. It was the prom. My date was getting nervous that I wouldn't make it.
20 - I love John Grishom books. I think I've read almost all of them.
21 - My husband is 8 years older than me....a fact I like to remind him of often:)
22 - We got married on May 8th which is Cory's parent's anniversary. And Cory's mom is 8 years younger than his dad.....funny, huh?!
23 - Parker was born on my sis-in-law's (MaryAnn) birthday. Spencer was born on my sister's (Melissa) birthday.
24 - I'm love trying new recipes which can be a good and bad thing. Sometimes it's a hit and sometimes it's a miss. Cory lets me know if it's good or bad! (I do appreciate the honesty)
25 - I'm really not an animal lover, but I married one so we do have a dog. Cory keeps telling me we need a cat....no, no we don't.

Cory...my love

Cory - I love you because even when you don't understand me....you can still stand me.

This was the Valentine's card I almost got for him, but it just didn't feel right even though it could totally apply to our lives. Instead I decided to get him one of Cupid on the front and the little guy was tired of shooting love arrows at people and getting no thanks so instead of shooting an arrow at a nice little old couple he moons them.

For those of you that know Cory you will understand why it just felt right. You can learn more about him by looking at his blog www.dakotakidlostinzion.blogspot.com.

I will post later about what he did for me for Valentine's....it was pretty sweet! And by sweet I mean I was getting home deliveries of chocolate several days in a row....I was in heaven!

Making her blogging debut...

Here is a picture of a 3-D ultrasound we had done this week. This appointment is always fun because we get a good look at everything. We could see internal organs, the brain, and the girl parts:) There is no doubt it's a girl. The last 2 appointments I've had with the doctor we could never get a really good look so we weren't totally breathing a sigh of relief that is was a girl. During it we saw her face and she opened and closed her mouth. It looked like a yawn, but I don't know if babies yawn in the womb.
Two cute little feet!

At one point during this she made it so we could see the blood flowing around and it shows up as blue and red. Spencer yelled out, "It's Spiderman!" The technician then said, "Oh I think you already have 2 Spidermen at your house you don't need another one."

Goooood Drugs!

It took Parker a couple of days to get back to normal from the dentist visit. He had bit his tounge badly and it was sore, but he is doing well. A couple of night ago Cory was watching a show where DEA agents bust drug users (quality t.v.) Parker became interested and asked him what the show was about and Cor told him that people take bad drugs and it's illegal and they have to go to jail.

Parker - "Daddy what are drugs?"

He then went onto explain that there are good drugs that you get at the dentist to help you not feel pain when they work on your teeth. But that people sometimes take drugs all the time to feel crazy and that that is a bad thing.

So I was totally unaware that this whole conversation took place while I was making dinner in the kitchen. Cory was happy with how he explained the whole drug thing to Parker.

Parker walks into the kitchen and very proudly says to me, "Mom, I got some goooood drugs at the dentist!" This was very puzzling to me since I never mentioned the word 'drugs' to him in regards to what they gave him at the dentist.

This tends to happen often in our house where Parker will say something to me and I quietly think to myself, "where did he learn that?" Then I realize that he gets information from him very well-intentioned father!

Blessing Day

This is Cory's older brother Justin and his family. They blessed their baby last Sunday. They were really hoping to have a boy and they did. His name is Mitchell. He is a little cutie. So they blessed him on Super Bowl Sunday and they have 1 o'clock church so we just went to sacrament and went to their house to eat. They were concerned that Cory would be stressed if he was missing the game. It was nice of them to think of him...but we had it covered with the dvr. So we didn't miss any of the action.
The man of the hour:)
The proud grandparents. They drove all the way from South Dakota for the weekend to be there. Even though they live a couple of states away they always support their children and families in everything. They are great in-laws! They even got to go to the Draper Temple open house on Saturday. There aren't any temples in South Dakota so they get a little jealous that Utah is getting them like crazy.

The Dentist

So Parker had to get some cavities filled at the dentist this morning. They didn't totally knock him out, but they gave him a little "tonic" of sorts to help him relax and the dental assistant called it Spiderman Juice...pretty cool!

The medicine started to take effect and Parker would just stare at me and laugh uncontrollably. He kept saying that I looked weird and he would laugh at everything I would say. They took him back and he got his teeth done they all said he did a really good job and I went back when he was finished to get some instructions and I had to carry him out to the truck because he was a little wobbly and out of it. It was no small feat carrying that 45 pound child out with me being 6 months pregnant, but we managed okay.

I was hoping that once we got home that he would want to lay on the couch and relax and watch some tv, but I quickly realized that it would not be the case. I felt like I was babysitting a drunk midget. (not that I really know what that would be like) He kept wanting to show me that he could walk and he would run across the living room and fall down and laugh and get back up and do it again. At one point he was heading right for the fish tank and I went after him in a panic, but he fell to the side of it and ended up safely wedged between the couch and a big toy airplane. He also kept trying to talk to me, but he said his tounge wasn't working and when he would talk it was very hard to understand because he was slurring.

He is starting to act more normal thank goodness. I knew he was feeling better when he demanded some chocolate milk and Spongebob. This has been my first experience with my kids getting dental work done.....and so it begins!
