Draper Temple Open House

Spencer sat very patiently on the bus as we went up to the temple.
We got to go to the Draper Temple open house on Tuesday night. This is a picture of us leaving and waiting in line to catch our bus back to our car. The boys loved it. None of us have been to a temple open house so it was fun to do it as a family. We first walked in and came to the baptismal font Spencer was so excited. He thought it was so cool and he said, "Come on guys lets get in the water!"
"Hang on we are going up a hill!" When we were telling the boys that we would be going to the temple and that we would go to a church and then from there we would load up on a bus that would take us up to the temple Parker replied, "I've never been on a bus before, that will be fun." We assumed he would be excited about the temple part of that, but buses are pretty cool too. When we left the house I grabbed my camera and Parker asked why I brought it and before I could answer he said, "Oh so you can put a picture of me on your blog and under it will say 'Parker helped build this temple'." He says that because when he pays his tithing he always gives money to the temple construction fund so I told him maybe his money helped build this temple. He thought that was pretty awesome!
This was a pretty good part of the night at the end where the yummy cookies were waiting. They also really liked the big map on the wall that showed all the temples around the world. Parker loves maps and was asking us what all the countries were.
I am so grateful we had this opportunity to take our kids to the temple. We got to sit in one of the sealing rooms while some temple workers explained what takes place there and then we held up the boys and we looked in the mirrors at our reflection that goes on forever. It was such a neat experience and I'm grateful we have temples on the earth.

Walking with Dinosaurs

This was an incredible show. I am so glad that we took the boys. We thought about not going because it was a little expensive, but we went for it and I'm so glad that we did. It was so amazing and the dinosaurs look so real and the whole show was very entertaining and cool. I'm sure there were many a child that cried during it! Parker and Spencer sat there the whole time with huge eyes and Spencer would let out a "roar" every once in a while.

The boys couldn't wait to get inside they ran the whole way.
We had to get a pic by the big dinosaur eye poster.
We got settled into our seat and then decided we needed some overpriced snacks. Cory and Parker went and got the goods and when they came back Spencer's eyes lit up when he saw the 2 foot long churro. He instantly laid claim to it and ate the whole thing. I don't know what was cuter watching him eat it or watching Cory ask him for a bite only to be turned down.
Some of my pictures are a little blurry because they said before it started that if the dinosaurs heard any cell phones or saw any flash photography that they would come find you and the dinosaurs would eat you. So I followed the rules for most of it, but I had to use the flash at the end when the t-rex came out.
These are the Brachiosaurus. There is a small one off to the right behind the tree and then the big mamma came out to protect it against the Allosarus.
Three Utah raptors came out and ate the dead dinosaur on the ground. At the beginning of the show some dinosaurs hatched out of some eggs and a big dino came out and ate them out of the nest. Yikes! I kept looking at the boys' faces to see a reaction, but they just thought it was all so cool!
This a Torosaurus. It was fun to hear Spencer yell out the names of the dinosaurs as they came out. He is very obsessed and always wants to know the dinosaurs names so his love of dinosaurs has been a learning experience for all of us.
Ankylosaurus....one of Spencer's favorites.
The big, bad T-rex came out at the very end and there was also a baby one. This one would walk all around and let out huge roars. It would scare us every time because we didn't know it was coming and then it happens and you jump in your seat spilling your $12 popcorn. I hate it when that happens:)

My Little Helper

I really love that Parker is so willing to help around the house. He will often surprise me and clean the whole family room by himself. It is really cute! He loves to help me in the kitchen and lately he loves helping clean the bathrooms. I started cleaning his bathroom yesterday and he saw me take out the rugs to shake them and he said, "What are you doing?" I said, "I'm cleaning your bathroom." He then replied, "Not without me you're not!" There was no stopping him. I have to admit that the little control freak inside of me would rather do it myself and do it "my way" than to let him help. But I've learned with kids you have to let all of that go and let them be a part of it because it teaches them important lessons and it can be fun if you can remember to be patient while they spray the same spot with cleaner 25 times!
And I love this picture. It is Parker on the kitchen counter wearing his apron and underwear. It's like preschool meets Food Network Chip 'n Dale style!

The Sweet Stuff

So I had a rough, emotional week. There was a lot of stress and crying involved and I think it was mostly pregnancy related. So I needed a sweet treat. Me and the boys decided to make chocolate cupcakes on Saturday night. I told Cory I wasn't making dinner and I headed to the kitchen to make these babies. Cory took care of dinner and me and my little helpers went to work creating cupcakes with "sticky frosting" in Spongebob and Cars cupcake papers. For those of you who aren't familar with sticky frosting....how dare you? It's the stuff dreams are made of! It's cooked sugar and karo syrup and then you slowly pour it into whipped egg whites. You can't go wrong with it, it's delicious. I think I might need to rename this blog: Food and why we love it! By Lindsay

Dinosaur Museum @ Thanksgiving Point

We got to visit Cory's brother in American Fork last Saturday and had a fun day with them and decided to go to the dinosaur museum. We spent hours there and the boys didn't want to leave. Then we decided to go to IKEA which is always a treat. It's fun to look at things and let the boys run wild.

Standing in awe of the big T-rex

We got to see the dinosaur movie on the big screen with the 3-d glasses....very cool. I have to admit the glasses also look very cool.

"Let's get out of here!" Spencer was constantly roaring like a dinosaur, so it made it easy to keep track of him, just follow the sound of the dino boy.
Digging in the sand!

It's a......

GIRL!!!

Our Christmas...

We had the opportunity of going to South Dakota to celebrate Christmas with Cory's family, it was a lot of fun. Once we made sure that Santa knew where to bring our presents we were good to go. So I promised many family and friends that I would stop putting food on my blog, but I had to put this on here. Why might you ask? Because it was all made by my amazingly talented mother-in-law. At first I asked her if she bought all of it at Costco? When she told me she had made all of it I almost died. And the real kicker is she doesn't even eat the stuff. That is some self control if I've ever seen it! The chocolate peanut clusters were my favorite if you were wondering. Spencer had a delightful, dinosaur filled Christmas. He hoped that every present he opened contained a dinosaur. There were many dinos and he was in heaven.
Batman!
Spencer is cuddled up taking a nap with his new dino blanket that Grandma Jones made. This has become the new "blankie" for him. We accidently left his blanket at Melissa's house on New Year's Eve and decided to take a chance and leave it there for a couple of days and he eventually forgot about it....yeah! It was so ragged it was Parker's blanket for 2 years and then it got passed to Spencer so it's been being used for a good 5 years, you could see through the material it was so worn out. We are glad to have a nice warm replacement.
Grandma Vesely made him this apron. Parker loves to help in the kitchen so this was so perfect for him.
There's nothing like playing Wii bowling in a red cowboy hat.
This is Storybook Island. Cory and I got engaged here 7 years ago. I've got Ironman to keep me safe.
We had fun, but it was sure cold there. The best part was we went to the gift shop after and Grandpa bought the kids a toy. Parker picked out a snake and Spencer a dinosaur.....go figure!
