lagoon day...

We met Heather and her kids at Lagoon for a little fun. Melissa was going to come, but little Lexi was really sick so she had to stay home. It was Mel's stake's Lagoon day so we thought we would all go and enjoy the free rides and fun times. We packed a lunch and prepared ourselves for a fun afternoon. First stop: Tilt a Whirl! Spencer just ran along with Allison and Becca and didn't really know what the ride was. I was a little nervous, but Spencer may be only 3, but he is pretty brave. He sat in between the girls and held on for dear life. He was cheering and laughing when he got off the ride. Maybe he got some of his courage from his cousin Marley:-)
I woke up Mataya so she could join in on the fun on the train. She just slept in the stroller the whole time and was just a little angel.
Spencer was pretending to take a picture of me in this one. He wanted to ride on the lion. He's been a little obsessed with The Chronicles of Narnia lately so he wanted to ride on Aslan.
We rounded out the afternoon with a water fight. At one point Spencer took off his shoes and was filling them with water and getting his cousins and brother wet.

This is my favorite pic of the day. At first Parker didn't want to be there, but after the merry-go-round he decided it was pretty fun after all.

funny

I read this in Parenting magazine and thought I would share. Cory and I had a good laugh!

"One child is a lot of work. You might think a second child would double the work, but he will quadruple it. The third child multiplies it by 27. A fourth child makes very little impact, possibly because you can't find him." -Blogger Rocks in My Dryer on Parenting.com

Spencer's prayer

Spencer said family prayer tonight.

"Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this day, thankful for the movie. We're thankful for Spencer and that he could go to The Dawn of the Dinosaurs. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

Can you guess what he did today with Parker and Daddy? Yep, the new Ice Age movie.

Parker's Family Home Evening

Parker taught us his first Family Home Evening lesson. Earlier in the day I had planned what we were going to do for family night. I reminded Parker it was Monday and he said, "Can I do the lesson? I have an idea." I thought okay this could be interesting.

So he made four people on paper and they had frowny faces. Then he made four people of rocks and they had happy faces. And the blow dryer represent the "storms" in life. The paper people are sad because they don't make good choices and they don't go to church. The happy people are living the commandments and doing what they can to stay anchored. So he turns the blow dryer on and the paper people blow away.

It was so cute to see him prepare this and teach it to us. The great part was that I had planned on talking about how we can make our family strong and his activity went right along with that so I think that this was a lesson we needed at our house. I think that Parker got the idea from Sharing Time in Primary and it really had an impact on him and he was excited to teach it to us at home.

I love the 2 paper people he drew on the right. One is a girl with really long hair. He said it was Rapunzel and he said, "Mom, I don't think she goes to church." And the one on the far right is a little boy with a mohawk.

I look forward to many more lessons taught by Parker!

Busy Saturday

Sleeping away during the Hertiage Days parade.
The parade was good this year, but the boys were less than thrilled to be there at times. Right in the beginning one float came by and they were throwing frisbees to people and one came right for Parker and hit him in his top lip. He was okay until he saw that it was bleeding and he came and sat down for a little while. His lip was so swollen and he was crying. Poor kid...he did get the frisbee though:-)
Spencer was just interested in eating the candy.
He got a frisbee too which he was pretty excited about.
After the parade we headed over to the Treehouse Museum. It was a free day so me and the kids went while Cory went to the Temple. A lot has changed there since we last went. They had a bunch of new stuff to see. Parker really liked the Indian stuff inside this big tepee.
There were these horses all over downtown Ogden and each one was painted different. This one was Spencer's favorite. (obviously) We had fun at the museum and then we walked around the temple and looked at the water fountain. We also went over and watched the I Fly which is a simulated sky diving thing. There were a lot of people doing it so it was fun to watch. There was even little kids! It is right next to the gym and Spencer was asking if we could go. We haven't been to the Ogden gym in a long time. They miss playing while I workout. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to workout with 3 kids when I don't want to take Mataya to the gym during the day with me. I'm still afraid that she will get sick. So for now me and the boys go in the evening when Cory is home. I think once Mataya starts sleeping through the night I will have to go in the morning before Cory goes to work. I really hope I have that kind of will power!

Call me Judge Judy

Ahh! The cellphone camera! How did we ever live without them?

Recently I had a doctor's appointment and as I sat down in the waiting room I looked over to see two lovely ladies across the way. I quickly realized that they were pharmaceutical reps. I thought that was a lot of leg going on, but who am I to judge. Okay, let's not kid ourselves I was judging. They didn't even notice me take this picture as the sound of their acrylic nails tapping on their Blackberries was nearly deafening.

friday

Today started out with a bang. We got up and made cookies and set up a little stand for Parker to sell some drinks and cookies. We had high hopes, but there was no one out and about today. Normally there is a slew of neighbor kids all down our street today. I guess we picked a bad day. Parker only had one "customer"...and it was Spencer:-) And he was really only out there for an hour, but it was pretty hot so we decided to move onto some water balloons.
Let the battle begin!
Mataya loves to give knuckles.
Yes that is a straw! This pictures was actually taken last night and I know it's a little strange, but when you have boys "strange" seems normal sometimes.

Miss M visits Marysvale

Miss M

She was turning on the charm this week. I think she was really happy to be in Marysvale. And happy to have her Grammy hold her every chance she got! Cory took our camera to scout camp so I had to make due with the camera phone. One highlight of our trip for Parker was going into town to get the mail. We left and I told him he was in charge of the key. One our way he asked me if I knew where the post office was. I told him I've been there a time or two I think I remember:-) This is a new concept for him! Driving to get the mail and it requires a key. I think I've got a little city kid on my hands. He did think it was so cool. Then we headed to the store to get a popsicle and we had a little friend hitch a ride home with us:
We first discovered it on our windshield wiper and that little sucker really held on. Parker giggled the whole way home and a couple of times I turned on the windshield wipers to get it off and Parker would yell, "No Mom don't do it!"

We love visiting grandma and grandpa's house!

Did you think to pray?

Cory left for scout camp on Monday morning at 5:30 a.m. and me and the kids and dog left town to visit my parents around 11 a.m.

We stopped at Albertsons on our way out of town to get a couple things. We come out and get loaded up. Well I got in and turned the key and it wouldn't start....dead battery. Normally I would call Cory and he would come and rescue us, but he was at scout camp. Okay no big deal I can find someone to jump us. While I'm scanning the parking lot looking for a man that looks like he knows how to jump a battery Mataya is busy having a blowout. Nice timing! I find a nice guy and he helped us and off we went. I would've come back home to get the car to take, but now that we have 3 kids we can't fit in the car...especially not with a dog.

I wondered if I should leave town at all. After a few prayers I decided we would be okay and just keep heading out of town. We had to stop in Nephi to get gas and lunch. We made it through the drive through and then got gas. After filling up and getting the boys food situated, I got back in and.....dead battery. I had to wander around and asked about 4 people for help. Most people didn't have jumper cables so they couldn't help. And I didn't have any either so I had to rely on people a lot. Finally found a guy and he jumped it and off we went again. I figured we wouldn't have to stop again because we had gas and food and were less than 2 hours away. I considered turning around and coming home, but I really wanted my grammy and papa to meet little Mataya and I wanted to see my parents.

We get close to Gunnison and Mataya starts crying. She is hungry and we are still an hour away so I thought I better stop. We pull into a park and I leave the vehicle running and let the boys out to play while I feed her. Around 15 minutes later we were off again. Everything seems fine the engine is running. We pull up to the stop sign to pull out to the main road and we lose all power....totally dead. I couldn't even shift it into park. I'm on the verge of totally losing it at this point. I really did good so far I hadn't cried a whole up to this point. I decide to call my mom and tell her what is going on. She answers and asks me how I'm doing......and I lost it. I burst into tears. I was so frustrated and I just wanted to get there. It's enough stress to travel with 3 kids and a dog and add in car trouble and it's a bit much.

So my mom calls my younger sister's in-laws (they live right up the street from where we were stranded) to see if they could come and help me. In the meantime, I'm standing outside waiting to hear back from her. A few people drive by and give me a strange look and keep on going. Then a guy pulls up in a little car and asks if I need help. I told him I think there is someone on their way. He gets out to see if he has jumper cables....he doesn't. He walks over and offers to look and see if he can help. He pushes on one of the connectors to the battery and says, "Wow, that was really loose and I just pushed it back on, try starting it." I'm thinking there is no way it was that simple and it won't start. I sit down and turn the key and it fires right up! We were cheering and I was so happy it was something so simple. I was thinking it was a major problem or something. I thanked the man about 10 times and off he went.

We got going yet again. I called my mom and told her we were coming and I was sure we would make it this time. So a trip that would normally take 3 and 1/2 hours took us a mere 4 and 1/2 hours. (not too bad for car troubles and 3 kids)

Once we were on the road again Parker said to me, "Mom, I thought about saying a prayer and asking Heavenly Father for help." My heart melted. He is so sweet and I told him he could say a prayer out loud or quietly to himself whenever he wanted. He said, "Ya know like you can pray if you lose a toy." I told him I've been saying a lot of prayers....I mean A LOT! I also told him that man that stopped was an answer to my prayer!

Mataya's Blessing Day

Our little family
Mataya is our little angel. Saturday night she went to bed at 11 p.m. and woke up at 7 a.m. Yes she slept a straight 8 hours! This girl rocks. And when she got up at 7 she had a major blowout which was comforting that another blowout would not occur in this gorgeous dress my grandma made for her to wear.
My cute mom! She got Mataya a little bracelet to wear for her blessing.
We ate lunch at the park with our family after the baby blessing. This is Parker buried neck deep in sand thanks to his ambitious cousins.
Campbell helped himself to the chocolate mint brownies. They were really that good!
Chloe giving Lexi a love before she left.
"Give me a hug...what's this sand in your pocket? I'll help you with that."
That's one way of doing it! My niece Allison said, "This was Mataya's party and she slept through it!"
Campbell out!

What a fun day! Thank you family for coming near and far to share Mataya's special day with us. We love you! Parker and Spencer were looking forward to seeing all their cousins and for Mataya to get to wear her "princess" dress.
