A little depressed

I considered taking the baby ticker off my blog because it's a little depressing at this point. I shouldn't be so impatient, but I am I can't help it.
I'm trying to look at the positive. We've gotten a lot done this weekend. I did a total kitchen cleaning, got a lot of laundry done, took the boys to the movie "Up" and painted my toenails. Yes you heard right, I painted my toenails. I'm sure it was a sight to see and I may have broke into a sweat doing it, but my toes are beautiful. And when one is about to give birth it is actually a very important detail.

I start to get a little grumpy and then I cheer up a bit when I have a painful contraction. It may be the only time in my life when pain brings happiness.

Cory and I were joking about it tonight saying that I'm not getting any happier or smaller so this girl better be coming soon. Stay tuned.......

Pregnancy update

Yes, I'm still pregnant. I've seen a couple of people from the ward drive by and crank their neck around to look at me to see if the huge belly still exists. Still going strong. I went to the doctor on Wednesday and I'm still only dilated to a 2 so I scheduled an induction for next Wednesday. I'm praying that I don't go that long. I just really don't want to be induced.

When we said family prayer tonight Spencer said it with my help and I made sure to have him say "please bless the baby that she will come soon."

I just wanted to make it through Thursday and we did. Parker is done with school and had his graduation so now we are ready for the little lady to join our family. I might have to start trying to get my labor going, any suggestions let me know:)

5k and Superdad

"I did it!"

Cory and the boys participated in our ward activity which was a 5k. This was Parker's 3rd time doing it and he just loves it. He wanted to ride his bike, but his bike needs a new wheel. Cory went to so many stores and searched all over to find the right size wheel. He came home on Tuesday after being gone all day. He had to leave the house at 6:30 to an appointment in Wyoming. He had gotten the wheel and rushed home to put it on Parker's bike only to find that it didn't fit right and wouldn't work. He was so tired and just wanted to come home and relax, but he was trying so hard to make it so Parker could ride his bike. We decided he could ride his scooter instead. Cory pulled Spencer in the bike trailer and Parker scooted along. I sat and waited for them during the race. I was just a spectator this time around. There is nothing better than a Popsicle after riding a scooter in the heat. Parker was going full out on his scooter, he really takes these "races" seriously.
Cory biking the boys home after the race.
Cory is a superdad. I know he was so tired, but he was willing to do this for the boys because he knew they would enjoy it!

One year ago

One year ago my life was very different. I got a gym membership for Christmas last year and January 1, 2008 I started working out a lot. I was honestly so excited to be able to go and work out and take the boys and they loved going so it made it easier on me. Melissa and I were making plans to be in some races so I needed to get my butt in gear.

I love to workout so I was grateful that Cory spoiled me with a membership and a cool road bike to help me on my way:)

I put on a t-shirt recently from a triathlon that we did May 31, 2008 and it was tight on my baby belly and I had to laugh because my due date is May 31, 2009. What a difference a year makes!

Me trying to make it up the hill.
This is a picture from a dualthon Melissa and I did last May at Antelope Island. It was honestly the hardest bike ride of my life, but also very fun. There was a huge buffalo on the road and it was a little scary, but kind of cool. This was my first race with my new road bike and I really miss riding it. Parker will often ask if we can go for a bike ride. So now he says things like, "Mom when you are done being pregnant let's......" He has a long list of things we need to do when mom is 'done' being pregnant. This was a great run because it was on a super flat highway. That made up for the super crazy hills we had to bike on.

Cory and the boys had fun hiking around and throwing rocks in the water waiting for us to finish the race. I look forward to 2010 being another active year!

A day with birds

Me and the boys went to the Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake today. Parker was supposed to go on a field trip with his school to the Dinosaur Park, but he didn't want to go so we came here instead. And since we have a membership to the dino park we can get into the Aviary for free during the week so we thought we should take advantage of it. Cory met us there and all I can say is thank goodness. What a great dad! His office is fairly close so he was able to come over and see all the cool birds with us and more importantly he pulled the wagon around while I waddled and tried to keep up:) Parker's favorite, but who doesn't love these they are super cool and huge.
This guy was roaming all over and we followed him for a bit. These always remind me of a place I worked at in high school. It was a cafe and there were houses all around and there were a ton of peacocks out back always squawking and running around.
Parker posing with his little bird buddy. Spencer kept asking to see the elephants and other animals. He didn't realize we weren't at the zoo. Spencer was very pleasant all day he didn't have one meltdown.....yes! He is peaking over the fence to see baby ducks.

Just making it is half the battle

Just making it to church that is. Cory had a meeting at 8 this morning which left me flying solo getting the boys ready and out the door. We were rushing around and everything seemed to be going well when I made the mistake of running my wet hand through Spencer's hair in an attempt to spike it and put some hair stuff in it. His hair is cute and short and I wanted to spike it. What I didn't realize is that I opened Pandora's box of a 3 year old tantrum.

Spencer threw his church bag down the stairs spilling contents of dinosaur books, snacks, and a sippie cup. After I picked it up and headed out the door, I knew we could still make it on time. The screaming and crying continued all the way to church. We live maybe a block away so we always walk. Spencer begged and pleaded and cried for me to hold him the whole way. I am large and in charge with child so that was not going to happen, plus my own bag was unusually heavy and my bag carrier(Cory) wasn't with me this morning. He was already comfortably sitting in sacrament meeting waiting for us to show up.

I picked up Spenc right before we headed in the door so that the whole building wouldn't hear the screaming. He calmed down and we found Cory and sat down.

Sometimes you may sit in sacrament meeting and be so overwhelmed that the tears start to flow. Well that happened to me today and I'm sorry to say that is wasn't the spirit that moved me.

Ten minutes passed and I began to feel better. My kids weren't really feelin' the Parmesan Goldfish I brought so I helped my self. There's no shame in eating all of your kids snacks at church if you are a big prego right? I didn't think so.

I didn't even mind the fact that Spencer used my belly to play out a dinosaur battle where the triceratops reigned supreme and conquered the mountain (my belly).

I often breathe a sigh of relief when I sit down at church and I feel victorious because we "made it". And with 9 o'clock church it can be somewhat of a challenge. Making it there is half the battle, but one day in Primary about a month ago I was sitting with my class during closing exercises when I was hit in the side of the head with a bean bag. I looked around and easily spotted the culprut and all I could do was laugh. So there can be challenges at church as well. But I was undaunted because I knew I would be walking home shortly to a diet coke and a nap.

Feel free to share any crazy "trying to make it to church" stories. I know you all have them!

The Standoff

We picked up Parker from school today and I had to drop some stuff off at the dry cleaners. I usually do the drive thru, but there was a truck parked there so I had to run in and Spencer didn't want to come in with us so I figured it wasn't a big deal it was 10 steps away and it would take us 1 minute maybe. We get back in and Spencer wants to get out and go in and I told him he missed his chance and we were heading home. This really ticked him off. When he got home I pulled him out kicking and screaming and he refused to come in the house. He sat there and kicked his shoes off. When I yelled for him to come in he made a break for it to the other side.
I kept checking out the window at him and he was just sitting there and then I looked out to see this. I thought I better get a closer look so I headed out. Fast asleep It's pretty tough being 3. It's tough on mom that is:) This whole event went on for an hour. I picked him up after I took this and he started thrashing around and ended up heading back out for a while. He eventually came it and sat on my lap and acted like nothing happened. I guess he had forgiven me.

Before and After

Before
After
Before
After
The boys were long overdue for haircuts and while Cory has done a great job in the past at cutting their hair I decided to take them to a new kids place in Layton. It was a lot of fun the boys got to watch movies and play video games while they got their haircuts and got to put some of their hair in a cool machine when they were done and some prizes came out.

Spencer was a little hesitant at first, like he is with most things, but I just sat him in the chair and he held so still and was so good. They look so much better. Spencer's hair is so straight that when it's a little long it looks okay just kind of shaggy. Parker, on the other hand, cannot pull off the long hair. He wakes up every morning and it's just a hot mess and even after we comb it it's still struggling.

Yea for haircuts. Emilee we wish you lived closer:)

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day gifts I made these arrangements of paper flowers with some cookies and gumdrops on them. They turned out really cute and Parker and Spencer loved helping make them I had to hold them off from eating the cookies.
I made one for my Grandma and Melissa. I got the idea off of Studio 5 which I've never actually watched, but one day last week I went to the gym and it was on channel 5 on one of the t.v.'s so I watched it and they made these for Mother's Day gifts. I thought it was a really cute and easy idea. Lexi is getting a little more used to grass. My grandma had us over for dinner which was so nice of her to cook for us on Mother's Day. It was a great weekend because I didn't have to cook one time. Friday was our anniversary and we went to dinner, we had a bbq at some friend's house on Saturday and then Grandma cooked for us on Sunday. Anytime I don't have to cook is a very good thing. Parker played a round of golf in the backyard after dinner.
I was right in on the action for this picture. Parker picked out his outfit to wear. He will at least let me pick his clothes for school and other times I give him a little more freedom. Maybe he just really loves the Utes. Spencer was very interested in the dogs at the neighbors. We were calling this one the horse it looked like it could jump the fence at any moment. I think Spencer is fine with dogs if they are at a safe distance. He never did get over his fear of our neighbors pug.

Last soccer game...

Parker had his last soccer game. It was a lot of fun he always wanted to be the goalie I don't think he really liked running around a whole lot. The night before his last game I told him he only had one more game to go and he excitedly responded, "YESSS!" I think he was a little bit glad to be done. I don't see a lot of soccer in Parker's future, but that's okay we will move onto something else.
We had a little cheerleader. Spencer was a little grumpy until this little lady showed up,We are always glad to hang out with Lexi and Melissa. Especially when Lexi looks so cool.
Looking good Spenc!

Funny Kids!

My boys were cracking me up today and I thought I would share.

Parker comes home from school and he had made a cute little bouquet of paper flowers in a little paper basket. He colored each of them and cut them out and the teacher had written on them things Parker can do to help his mom. We get home and we sit on the couch and he tells me to pull one out and he will do it for me. I grab one and it says, "Help my mom clean her room". I look up at him and he says, "Well your room is really messy, maybe you should choose another one!" I guess it's a conditional gift! In his defense my room is really messy because I've got a lot of stuff in there that will go in the baby's room and will be moved out when we are done painting.

Now little Spencer....I had a doctor's appointment today and they started out by doing a stress test on the baby. I sit in the chair and pull up my shirt so the nurse can hook the stuff onto my belly. Spencer gets really close and points to my belly button and says very loudly, "Look at that big nipple!" He really loves that word and he's not afraid to use it.

26 days...not that I'm counting

I thought I would write a little prego update for friends and family who I don't get to see very often. I am counting down the days until this little girl gets here. I've been very blessed throughout this pregnancy. I feel like it has gone by really fast and I've felt great and continued to exercise and do all the other things that I need to.

We finished painting the boy's room and got them moved it. They were very excited.

I had to add this one on. Parker wanted to get an action shot of him jumping off his ladder.

Next we are onto the other bedroom which currently has blue stripes on the walls and has wainscot that is halfway done. So it will be more of an undertaking, but we are going to primer the walls some night this week and hopefully get it done. I'm sure there are a lot of people that get their baby's room done months in advance, but that's just not how we roll. We would like to get things done sooner, but Cory is so busy with work and being scoutmaster that we just have to do things when we get a spare day here and there. I think someone should come up with a service called Hire-a-Husband to do jobs in the house and the yard. They could make a killing on us Mormon ladies that have busy husbands. Just think of all the wives of bishops out there that could use the service:)

At my last appointment the baby was measuring 37 weeks so she's a little bigger than average. She was at 6 lb 2 oz. She will probably be around 8 pounds which is right about where my boys were when they were born. My doctor told me that I'm a little bit anemic and to take an iron pill everyday. I thought about that after my appointment because lately I've been craving the smell of dirt, oil, and weird things like that. I felt a very strong urge to eat some dirt. Which is awesome because I did eat some dirt as a kid so I know what it tastes like. So anyone out there that feels like licking rocks you might want to consult a physician as a more serious medical condition may be present.

So hopefully I will be posting pictures of the baby's room before any pictures of the baby. Keep your fingers crossed!

Real Soccer Game

Parker got to go to a Real Soccer game with Daddy last Saturday. They had a lot of fun. Parker has been so excited to go since he started playing soccer, he couldn't wait to see how the pros do it. This pic is a little hard to see, but Parker got to get a churro (he is holding it in his hand). He has been wanting one for a long time. Daddy bought him a shirt and hat! (Cory is really gunning for the 'coolest' parent award:) He wore his own soccer jersey to the game which he is wearing underneath his new shirt.
He was so excited to show me what he got. He came running in the house very excited and was sad to find that Spencer was already in bed and couldn't show him all his cool stuff. What an awesome dad!
